Forest School

At St Margaret's C of E Primary School, we are very proud of our Forest Schools and how they have developed over the years to become a fixture, eagerly anticipated by our students.

Established in 2015, we now run Forest Schools two afternoons a week throughout the whole school year, rain or shine.  Unlike some schools that can only offer a Forest School experience to a select number of students, we firmly believe that this programme is beneficial for all students and therefore offer it from nursery through year 6. By the time our year 6 students leave us, they will have had over 30 sessions at Forest School!

The Forest School programme is a child-centred, holistic outdoor learning experience in which the students have an opportunity to develop confidence, resilience, independence, creativity while fostering a connection and enjoyment with nature.

Our leaders Mrs Fox, Mrs Walker and Mrs Baker (and Mrs Whitehead in our Nursery) are all Forest School Qualified Leaders having trained through the Sussex Wildlife Trust and share good links with local Forest School associations and colleagues.

We are always happy to have additional helpers join our sessions, so if you have had your DBS cleared with the school, please contact the office about lending a hand and joining the fun.
