General Information for Parents in Year 2

The children will need to make sure that they have with them every day the following items.

  • Book bag
  • Water bottle
  • Coat (waterproof)
  • P.E Kit
  • Piece of fruit for afternoon break (optional)

P.E.

Both classes will have P.E on a Tuesday afternoon and a Thursday afternoon. Please make sure that your child's P.E kits are clean and ready to use on these days. If your child wears earrings, they must be removed before school on P.E days. If this isn't possible, we request that you tape your child's ears before school and remove the tape at the end of the day. Teachers are not able to administer the tape on your behalf.

Photos of the PE Uniform can be found on the School Uniform page under the Parents Information page.

If your child has a verruca, please let your class teacher know. It is school policy that if your child is well enough to come to school then they are well enough to participate in the P.E lessons.

Reading

All children are expected to ready at least five times a week for at least 15 minutes. The children need to record their reading on Seesaw and complete the VIPERS reading question. Books will be changed on a Monday and returned on a Friday.

Please note that during the current Covid-19 situation, the school is currently not accepting any visitors to the school to help with reading.

Children will receive a bronze medal for completing at least five reads in a week. This is the only homework set each week.

Our main aim is that children become readers because they love reading and sharing books with adults and their friends. Sharing lots of books at home is important. Good readers become good writers.
