General Information for Parents in Year 4

P.E.

Both classes will have P.E on a Monday afternoon and Friday morning. Please make sure that your child's P.E kits are clean and ready to use on these days. If your child wears earrings, they must be removed before school on P.E days. If this isn't possible, we request that you tape your child's ears before school and remove the tape at the end of the day. Teachers are not able to administer the tape on your behalf.

If your child has a verruca, please let your class teacher know. It is school policy that if your child is well enough to come to school then they are well enough to participate in the P.E lessons.

Our cloakroom areas can become quite crowded with bags, coats and uniform. Please help us to keep it tidy and to cut down the lost property by using small bags, labelling everything and only bringing in essentials. Let us know if anything goes missing, we'll do our best to help you find it.

The Curriculum for the school can be found here.

 Forest School

Please make sure that your children have appropriate clothing as we will be going out in all weathers.

Homework

All children are expected to read at least three times a week for a minimum of 15 minutes. Children should record their reading on Learning with Parents.

Our main aim is for children to become readers because they love reading and enjoy sharing books with adults and their friends. Sharing lots of books at home is very important. Good readers become good writers.

In addition to reading, children should regularly access Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS) and Spelling Shed to practise and reinforce their learning. We encourage children to spend time each week completing games and activities on these platforms, as they help to build fluency in times tables and confidence in spelling in a fun and engaging way. Regular practice will support your child's progress across the curriculum.
